A place where past and present harmonize, a place where mountains and sea meets, Tokyo is vibrant and dynamic city in the day and makes you flutter at night.

Tokyo is a world unto itself and visiting for the first time will be one of your fondest memories.. Hopefully! To be honest I was a little skeptical visiting. Considering the language barrier, I convinced myself it will be a though place to navigate but boy was I wrong. Enough now ! Let’s get to the meat and potatoes of this blog

First time flying in? here are some tips

There are two major airports servicing Tokyo: Narita and Haneda. Most flights come through Narita but it is the furthest from the center so if you have to pay a little extra, I will suggest Haneda as it will save you some hassles especially if it is your first time.

Don’t worry, Japanese are very friendly and will help you should you get lost.. trust me I still get lost no matter how many times I have been there. The strain system is efficient and reliable. From Haneda to city, it will take you about 25-30 min local train ride where as from Narita expect a good hour and half.

Surviving the rush hour

The easiest way is to buy a metro card, either Pasmo or Suica. With those metro card you can use it for taxi, buy food etc.. I kid you not haha! Don’t miss the last train from Tokyo to wherever you are going or you going to be stuck there for the night which itself is not bad depending on how you look at it. Night life in Tokyo is alive but we’ll get into that later.. oh you can use cash if you didn’t buy the card so don’t stress to much about the card, it is just convenient. And while you are at it, know that the strain station in Tokyo aren’t like anything you’ve experience before. Huuuuuge! You can live there for days and do all your shopping

Culture, food and more

Are you traveling solo or with family ? Well it really does not matter because Japan is one of the safest countries I have ever been to. The rules are followed to the T which can be annoying at time because rules are meant to be bent sometimes.. oops don’t quote me on that. When it comes to food, I know what spring into your mind when you think Japanese cuisine.. yes you guessed right! Go ahead a try the delicacy of sushi, pretty much anywhere and you can’t go wrong. Don’t forget Yakitori, them famous skewers of bite-size barbecued chicken that will tickle you taste buds, off course Ramen which needs no introduction. Indeed, There is a ramen-themed museum in Tokyo and don’t forget to visit.

And don’t forget to use these fancy bad boy when you get a chance. I promise you no disappointment

Enjoy your trip. We’ll talk about the night life in another segment. Stay tune..
